I've had this product for over a month and it's been excellent. The large dial makes it easy to read when placed at the back of the oven, and it seems to be very accurate. I haven't verified accuracy, but I've noticed that cookies and other baked goods are consistently better since I've started using the thermometer (not overdone, underdone).
Also, ovens will naturally vary in temperature from top to bottom and front to back by as much as 50 degrees. If you put three sheets of cookies in the oven, one on each rack, the top sheet could easily be done before the bottom sheet. Without knowing exactly what the temperature variations are in your oven, checking doneness is guesswork. By placing the thermometer at different places in my oven, I've been able to figure out the oven's "temperature profile" and I can adjust recipes accordingly.

Very few ovens, especially older ones, accurately calibrate to the degree you have set. You may have noticed this and gotten used to it: setting the temperature 25 degrees lower than the recipe calls for, or removing your cookies a couple of minutes sooner. However, there are some recipes and occasions that call for more precision (delicate fish, soufflEs, or the holiday turkey) and that's when the oven thermometer comes in handy.Whether standing flat or hooked onto a rack, this oven thermometer measures temperatures from 150 to 550 degrees F. Its red pointer shows clearly against a matte gray background, as do the large, black numerals. The dial measures 2-1/2 inches in diameter. Overall, the thermometer is 4 inches high and has a hook for hanging. Made of stainless steel, it's sturdy and precise.
