Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of KitchenAid Stainless-Steel 2-Quart Porcelain Teakettle, RedCustomer Review: Fantastic Tea Kettle Summary: 5 StarsI've just received this kettle (stainless steel) as a gift from my wife. It's everything that I could want. I have to wonder about some of the negative reviews I see here. Some complain about pouring issues. As far as I'm concerned it pours fine. Others mention a rust problem. They must be thinking of one of the "enamel on steel" ones, but the stainless version won't rust. A couple complained that there's a plastic piece between the kettle and the handle, which they claim melts. For cryin' out loud people! How hot do you get it?? Do you let it boil dry and sit on the stove for hours?? The "plastic" piece is a "thermal break" that keeps the handle from getting too hot! Still, some feel that the handle gets too hot anyway. I've left it on the stove boiling for over 45 minutes and didn't find it hard to pick up. Others say its too heavy..... All this thing is, is HEAVY DUTY!
The "whistler" snaps up and STAYS up.
It won't rust.
It has a nice flat bottom.
It has a HUGE capacity.
It looks cool!
I love it!
Customer Review: Attractive vs. LOUD Summary: 3 StarsWe got the black porcelain enamel exterior style. It is really pretty. The compact style is nice also. Except that the compact style makes it hard to pour the last of the water out of the pot due to the odd angle at which you have to hold it. My main complaint is the intensely loud screech of the pot. No one in the house can sleep through that. That is a quality of life issue if you are woken up too early. Also the handle does get hot, but that hasn't bothered me much. If I had it to do over, I would have bought a pot that has a quieter whistle. Just my personal preference.
Customer Review: KitchenAid As Expected Summary: 5 StarsNeeded a new tea kettle and wanted both reliablilty and retro modern design. Love this color and style - have yet to be disappointed by KitchenAid products. They offer good quality at a reasonable price.
Customer Review: Inside Finish Flakes Off Into Your Water Summary: 2 StarsWe bought this tea kettle, and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately, after about a year of what was frankly not very much use, the finish on the inside of the kettle began to flake off into the water. We eventually had to throw it away because the water was filled with gray flakes of whatever the finish is made of. Worked great, except for the part where we were concerned it could be poisoning us.
Customer Review: Works Great Summary: 5 StarsThis is a high quality product, just like other KitchenAid products. The kettle boils water very fast, which is great. I'm going to order another one for a relative.
