Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of KitchenAid Stainless-Steel 2-Quart Porcelain Teakettle, Red

Customer Review: Too hot to the touch
Summary: 1 Stars

This tea kettle looks great up front but has some serious issues with regards to hot touch points. Pick this up and you can burn yourself like I did simply from the handle. Try to flip the whistle up and ouch there is another burn. It looks nice on the stove but is too hazardous for me to use.
I would have thought Kitchenaid would have done some better consumer use testing to validate and ultimately would have determined that this unit is unsafe for home use with the current design. Did I mention that it leaks at the lid? and the handle areas? What a rip.

Customer Review: Great When it works
Summary: 3 Stars

I purchased this stainless steel kettle about a year ago. When the spout failed to open after exactly one year I called KitchenAid (now within Meyer corporation) for service as directed in the material packaged with the kettle. They were very quick to say that the one year warranty had expired by two days but when said I purchased it at Amazon and did not received it until a week later they relented and made an exception and agreed to send out another kettle. Unfortunately, it did not come and I had to call again after one month. This time they gave me an order number, which they did not do on the first call, and I should receive a new kettle in a couple of weeks. I hope so.

Prior to this failure the kettle worked well and we received a number of complements on its style and function. It looks the same as the day we purchased it and except for the spout's failure to open (without using a spoon to lift the cover), and the delay (and possible misshandling of my initial request) in receiving a new kettle from customer service, I would have given this kettle five stars. A very nice teakettle when it works.

Customer Review: Review for stainless steel version
Summary: 4 Stars

I bought this teapot to match my stainless steel appliances. I am definitely not disappointed with how it looks. The stainless steel looks great. It functions as a teapot, although the whistle is very loud. This may or may not be a bad thing depending on your own tastes. My previous teapot was much quieter (but still plenty loud to alert me to boiling water). The handle also gets quite hot, to the point one should probably use a hot pad to pick up the kettle. My prior teapot definitely did not have this problem. It's not a dealbreaker, but is just poor design in my opinion.

Overall I would say buy this for the looks and the functionality if you like the price point. However, there are better teapots out there that are not quite as obnoxiously loud and with handles that won't burn your hand!

Customer Review: Really nice kettle the 2nd time around
Summary: 4 Stars

I purchased this kettle (silver) and was really impressed with its looks. Unfortunately the whistle didn't work. I boxed mine up and shipped it back to KitchenAid and after about three weeks they sent me a new replacement. This one works great and has a loud whistle but the overall purchase price increased by ten dollars since I wasn't reimbursed my shipping fees. I would have given it 5 stars had it not been for this.

Customer Review: Great kettle
Summary: 5 Stars

I have been using this kettle for about a week now and I'm very satisfied. Not sure why some reviewers have complained that the handle gets hot: it doesn't. I have no complaints whatsoever.
