Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of KitchenAid Slow Cookers

Customer Review: cracked after year and half of light use
Summary: 1 Stars

Beware!!! I bought this slow cooker a year and half ago and used it maybe a max of one time a month. It cracked as all the other reviewers have said. I did not abuse it or drop it. I have had a rival for 10 years and never had one problem. I just wanted a bigger crock pot. I called kitchen aid and they are willing to replace it for $36.99 and $6.95 shipping. I am sorry but I will just put that money into a different brand of crockpot before I throw away my money for it to crack again. Sorry environment for adding to the heap of cheap appliances that are more expensive to fix than they are worth. Thanks kitchen aid! I will definatelty think twice!!!

Customer Review: Caution!

I purchased this slow cooker in the onyx color. I don't often need such a large slow cooker; so, I left it in the box until yesterday ~ more than a year after I made the purchase. The slow cooker looked to be perfect so I loaded it with an expensive beef roast for the super bowl. and then? NOTHING! It would not heat on any of the cycles ~ dead cold. I followed the troubleshooting suggestions and still nothing. I phoned KitchenAid for advice this morning and after the rep determined that there was nothing more I could do to make the slow cooker work, I was dismissed because my warranty has expired.

I wonder if there should have been a recall judging from the failures discussed here and at the previous models of the same size and product.

Ninty dollars in the trash.

After owning other Kitchen Aid products I was looking for a slow cooker that was big and quality made. I bought mine from Bed Bath and Beyond on Friday, January 29, 2010. After opening the box and finding a big dent and scratch, I repackaged the unit and returned it to the store on Saturday. After exchanging for the only other new packaged unit in the store, got it home, opened it up, removed packing materials, to find the crock was way too big for the base and the lid to small. So small, that there was no way to seal the unit during cooking. I called KA customer service, and had just missed them by an hour. Being that it was the weekend I had to wait until Monday morning to pursue this issue any further. So, on Monday morning I called them and spoke to a representive who informed me that the crocks were on back order and that she would need to send me a whole new unit. Unfortunately, it would take 7-10 business days. I asked if the back order was due to the fact that the crocks were cracking as I had read reviews of this problem and she replied that there was not a defect in the crock, but the people who used it were using it incorrectly! I was frustrated! I explained that I didn't want to wait another week or two to get what I paid for and had already made 2 trips to the store to get what I paid for. Needless to say the representive was good with apologies! I am returning the unit to the store, AGAIN! I will not be purchasing any other Kitchen Aid products in the near future. Customer Review: Great Slow Cooker,,Buttttttt.....
Summary: 4 Stars

This is an awesome slow cooker, I got it for Christmas and have used it several times, however the ceramic bowl cracked all the way through while using it and it cost $36.00 plus shipping to replace it. Considering the unit cost $125.00 I feel the warranty should cover this being how I only had it for a month. I had my other crock pot for 20 years and the inside piece never cracked. Still hoping the warranty will cover it, havent heard anything from them yet.
