Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of KitchenAid Silicone Basting Spoon, GreenCustomer Review: Just about perfect Summary: 5 Stars
I use this for stews, soups, and stocks. The spoon is oversized, which is very good if you're making a large pot of stuff, and/or have to handle chunks of meat and vegetables. The handle is fairly thick, which makes it easy to hold. As other reviewers mentioned, this spoon is easily large enough to do double duty as a ladle. (If you want something to stir a batch of something in a small bowl, or sautee a few mushrooms in a small saucepan, you won't want to use this large spoon - but get it anyway, because you'll want to use it for everything else.) I was a little worried that the shaft would be too flexible, but it seems to be just right. Because the silicone extends along the shaft (instead of just the bowl), there's no seam to trap food and make cleanup difficult - which I've had a problem with when using other silicone tools).
