I couldn't believe some of the whiny reviews by some of the sissy people at the Amazon site. We've used that shredder slicer attachment for decades and it works great if you use it correctly. It is a little hard to get the drive stub off the cutter cones, but you use pliers for that. I'd rather have a nice tight fit than a sloppy one, especially with something that has that much power and is intended to cut. I have always used the kitchen pliers. I do it reflexively without even thinking every time I assemble or disassemble the drums from the drive shaft. And the good non-stainless steel is harder than stainless and holds a better edge. Stainless is soft. Give me a stainless bolt and a grade-8 bolt and I will take you to my workshop and show you. The cones are better because they have more steel in them. The answer is not to leave them soaking in standing water. Ours don't have a spot of rust on them and I have had them over 20 years, before we were married. They go through the dishwasher, the sink, and cut lots of wet veggies. And the shredder-slicer doesn't make mush unless you aggressively over-feed the thing and don't clear it intelligently from time to time as you are working. Some of the negative reviews demonstrate how the population is being reduced to simpletons who can't figure anything out - everything has to be idiot-proofed. We shred cheese, make cole slaw, do all kinds of work with the Kithen-Aid attachment pack. Use it correctly and it will last forever and save you much labor. It's a working beast of a fine thing.
