Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of KitchenAid KTT460WH 2-Slice, Single-Slot Digital Toaster with Bagel, Warm, and Frozen Functions, WhiteCustomer Review: Good, reliable toaster Summary: 5 Stars
For some reason, reviews of toasters are unusually brutal. I think some people have unreasonable expectations of what a toaster can do. Results are going to vary based on the type of bread used, the moisture content of the bread, whether the bread is fresh, frozen or thawed, and the size of the bread slice. The toasting adjustment dial does not make every slice of bread come out to the same level of doneness. It just tells the toaster how long to keep your toast down.
All that being said, a good toaster should toast evenly when the bread allows it, should hold bread flat, should deliver reliable results at the same setting, and should keep working for years.
I bought this one about a year ago based on the mixed reviews on this forum. I have in fact been quite happy with it. It does everything mentioned above, plus the bagel-toasting and warming functions and I would gladly buy one again. Recommended.
Description of KitchenAid KTT460WH 2-Slice, Single-Slot Digital Toaster with Bagel, Warm, and Frozen Functions, WhiteKitchenAid KTT460WHThis single-slot digital toaster from KitchenAid not only toasts most widths of bread to perfection but also warms pastries, gets bagels just right, and handles frozen items intelligently. A simple user-friendly display governs all these functions, with a dial for browning preference and three buttons for the "warm," "frozen," and "bagel" options. The "warm" function heats without toasting, while the "frozen" function gently thaws, then toasts. The "bagel" function toasts the cut side 100 percent and the crust 50 percent. Each function includes an indicator light, and the digital display shows the selected browning level. If you toast several servings in a row, KitchenAid's Even Heat system adjusts cooking time to ensure consistent results. Structurally, the toaster is sound and accommodating, holding two slices at a time. The toasting rack automatically centers bread between the elements, and the Soft Rise feature raises finished toast high for easy removal.
