This is a great toaster - definatley worth the extra $$. It's stainless and not aluminum - it doesn't smoke or smell like plastic when it's toasting. The bagel and frozen functions work great. When I read through the reviews several people noted that the lever doesn't pop up 100% of the way. Mine does the same thing - however I like this feature as the toast isn't exposed to the air if I don't take it out of the toaster right away.
I would definately recommend it. I have purchased most of the small appliance line made by KitchenAid and I couldn't be happier with the quality not to mention all of the cool colors!
