Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of KitchenAid KTA-KPWB100PM Pro Line Waffle Baker, Pearl MetallicCustomer Review: A lifestyle changing appliance + Recipe Summary: 5 Stars
Yes, this is an expensive item, but how many kitchen gadgets can you find that measurably improve your quality of life? My kids absolutely adore the results from this machine, and guests are amazed.
I had a small standard waffle maker before, and there is no comparison between the results it produced and this machine.
Waffle Quality: The baker flips the batter upside down, coating the grid evenly, so the waffles are lighter. The heavy heating elements do not cool down during cooking, so timing is completely consistent.
Machine Quality: It's more like a heavy duty appliance than a kitchen gadget. It has a 24lb shipping weight, and build quality that looks like it will outlive the rest of your kitchen, and may even outlive you.
I know home made waffles or pancakes at the weekend sound like a cliché, but if they're made to perfection, there's few better starts to the day.
I thought the recipes in the package were a tad pretentious to be honest, and the "pro" theme a bit overdone. Kitchenaid didn't need to oversell this - it's clearly better made and finished than most "pro" culinary products.
There isn't a regular, crisp, light Belgian waffle recipe in the manual, so I'll share what I've been doing for the past 2 years:
Makes 4 Kitchenaid Pro-Line Waffles
2 large eggs
2 cups Self raising flour (or 2 cups plain + 1 tbs baking powder + 1 tsp salt)
3 tbsp Sugar
1 3/4 cups Milk
1/4 cup melted butter (1/2 stick for 35 seconds in a microwave)
2 tsp Vanilla essence
1 tsp Lemon juice
Preheat wafflemaker. Beat egg whites in a mixer until fluffy (about 2 mins) and reserve. Add the rest of the ingredients to the mixer, flour and sugar first, then the liquids. Loosely combine so that the flour is incorporated. * Don't over mix * . Fold in beaten eggs whites. Leave for a few mins until bubbles form. Bake waffles for 3:45.
Enjoy!
