Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of KitchenAid KSB5 5-Speed Blender, Empire GreenCustomer Review: Quiet and Attractive! Summary: 5 Stars
I really enjoy all of my KitchenAid products.. they're all attractive, perform well and are easy to clean. This blender is all of the above! This blender is one of the quietest I've ever seen. I heard older models are louder, but this one is pretty darn quiet. I can actually have a conversation with someone else in the kitchen while the blender is on - that's saying something! The blender is also sturdy and easy to clean. It's got MANY colors to choose from - I prefer the empire green to match my KitchenAid mixer! The price is a little high, but usually there are rebates and special offers available to take $20 or so off, which makes it a little more reasonable. I find it well worth the cost and I highly recommend it.
Description of KitchenAid KSB5 5-Speed Blender, Empire GreenThis is the blender of the future. It performs all the traditional blending tasks (crushing ice for margaritas, thinning ice cream) plus it can be used like a food processor (mincing garlic, puréeing peppers). The wide jar is rounder and squatter than old-style blenders, which makes it easier to reach in and scrape the sides (when the blender is off!). To reduce splatters of strawberry daiquiri, the Step Start feature starts blending slowly, then picks up to the chosen speed. This blender also comes with a booklet containing 75 recipes--my favorite is the Frosty Chocolate Raspberry Latté. --Dana Van Nest Editor's Choice:KitchenAid's five-speed blender has a number of functions that set it above the crowd as our choice for best blender under $100. It starts with the five speed settings and the pulse function, which works at any of the speeds--a really nice touch. The blender's 40-ounce glass jar has a squat shape, making it more manageable than taller blenders, and comes completely apart.
