Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of KitchenAid KP2671XWH Professional 6-Quart Stand Mixer, WhiteCustomer Review: KP2671XOB (onyx black version of KP2671XWH) Summary: 5 Stars
Over 8 years later, I am still pleased with my Pro 6 - 6 qt KitchenAid Stand Mixer. My model was manufactured in 2002, made in the USA and purchased through KitchenAid. The Pro 6 is the 6 quart model that was made after the Epicurean and before the new Pro 600 (and Pro 610/620 limited edition) series. I love my Pro 6 KA stand mixer. It's a workhorse! In this 8+ years that I've owned my model, I have not had one issue, repair or even a leak. This has been one of my best purchases, out of all my kitchen counter top appliances.
Our stand mixer goes through a lot tasks, from using several of the hub attachments (meat grinding attachment is a favorite), mixing yeast doughs for bread, cookie doughs, meat mixtures (meatloaf/meatballs), cake batter, quick bread doughs, frostings, whipped cream, mashed potatoes, faux potatoes (cauliflower) & to even delicate mixing like for angel food cake and meringues.
I love the sturdiness of this mixer, the design, ease of use, the bowl-lift, motor (still hums beautifully) and the large 6 qt mixer bowl. The 2 piece pouring shield is also a great plus! --So much better than the newer 1 piece pouring shield that replaced it. I have traveled my Pro 6 KA stand mixer several times without any hassles, as well.
I have family with the Pro 600 series models, although they are nice, I am still very pleased with my Pro 6. The main differences between the two models are sound of motor (Pro 6 humms, while the Pro 600 gives off a higher pitched whine), the motor wattage (Pro 6 has 525 watt motor, while Pro 600 has a 575 Watt) and the type of dough hooks that can be used (Pro 6 is made for the traditional C-hook style dough hook, while the Pro 600 is built for the spiral dough hook). *you can not use the spiral dough hook on the Pro 6 models that do not include this hook (I have already inquired); only models that are built for the spiral dough hook are compatible. However, while using both models (Pro 6 with C-hook and Pro 600 with spiral hook), I notice no difference in quality or outcome of making homemade yeast breads.
Description of KitchenAid KP2671XWH Professional 6-Quart Stand Mixer, WhiteIf you love to bake and do so often, this is the mixer of your dreams! KitchenAid's most powerful motor yet will mix double batches of cookie or bread dough thoroughly and efficiently without overheating. This heavy-duty machine will deliver many years of dependable, quiet service. With a 525-watt motor to handle bread doughs and thick cookie batters, this is KitchenAid's most powerful stand mixer, a professional-grade appliance with a heavy, rugged, all-metal construction (31.7 pounds) which prevents "counter walk" on the mixer's rubber feet. It has a 6-quart, polished stainless-steel bowl with an ergonomic handle and a two-piece pouring shield made of heavyweight plastic to provide a large chute for adding ingredients. Accompanying the mixer are a burnished flat beater, a burnished dough hook, and a big wire whip. On the front of the powerhead is a hinged cover for the hub to which KitchenAid's many mixer accessories attach. This mixer's great features abound. An electronic sensor ensures mixing action remains at the speed selected from among the 10 available--even when the going gets tough. Mixing begins softly to prevent splatters and "flour puff." With the beater moving clockwise and the shaft moving counterclockwise there's no need to rotate the bowl for the beater to reach all ingredients. The bowl-lift lever functions easily. A ventilation system cools the entire mixer to prolong motor life, and a resettable overload-protection system prevents overheating. The mixer measures 11-3/8 inches wide, 16-1/2 inches high, and 14-5/8 inches deep. KitchenAid says the first year of the mixer's lifetime warranty against defects is "hassle-free," with a replacement shipped at no cost and without question if a defect is detected. --Fred Brack
