Customer Review: Ice Cream Maker Attachment DID NOT fit my mixer

I have a KitchenAid 5 qt. heavy duty stand mixer (Model 4KSMC50) and the ice cream attachment did not fit the mixer at all. There is a bolt that sticks out preventing the attachment to be attached properly. I was racking my brains figuring out what I was doing wrong--why couldn't I attach this thing? I was also scared that the plastic pieces would break as they flew off of the mixer because they weren't fitting properly. I went on the internet and watched (more than once) how-to-videos on assembling the attachment when I found out that it was not my fault but the bolt was assembled incorrectly; it should have been flush against the mixer and not sticking out. Since my mixer was well out of warranty, I decided to take matter into my own hands and gently hammered the bolt in. (I do not advocate anyone do this, just explaining what I did to make this thing work) This took quite some time and I was scared it might damage my mixer, but I haven't witnessed anything yet. I am ticked off that KitchenAid does not warn customers that this attachment will not work with certain models. The ice cream I made was great, but after all that trouble I hardly think it was worth it because I am still reluctant to use it in fear the flimsy plastic pieces may break or fall off the powerful mixer.
