Customer Review: Glad I Spent a Little More

This KitchenAid immersion blender costs a little more than the competition, but it is well worth it. The construction quality, of course, is first rate. Beyond that, you get a 9-speed drive, so you can slow it down for small batches or gentler processing.
I don't much use the included blending cup, but it is great for storage of something like a whole cubed pineapple. It is now always in my refrigerator. I have only used the whisk once, but it worked OK.
The little chopper accessory is good enough that I've put away my huge Krups food processor, freeing up a chunk of counter space. I may need the Krups sometime for big jobs, but so far this chopper does all I need.
The blending stick, of course, is the star of the show and I kick myself for not getting this sooner. Pureed soups are a breeze and I now find myself like a guy with a hammer in search of nails. This thing is such a treat to use for soups that I'm looking for new recipes. I have a couple of microwaved soup recipes for pureed bean and lentil soups and this makes them one-dish jobs: no more transferring batches to the Krups processor and back to a serving bowl; I just cook and puree right in the bowl.
I've also made a couple of quick smoothies with it, blending everything right in the serving glasses.
Clean-up couldn't be easier, beating out both a food processor and a regular blender by a long shot.
Yeah, I like this thing.
