Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of KitchenAid KFP670 Professional Food Processor, Onyx BlackCustomer Review: How did I cook without it? Summary: 5 Stars
I've had the KFP670 for a little over two weeks and simply CANNOT fathom why I waited so long to buy it. Since owning it, I've quickly and efficiently made pickles, carrot marmalade, pastry dough, cookies, sliced many batches of vegetables, and grated lots of cheese. I LOVE it.I read all the reviews for both Kitchen Aid and Cuisinart, read the reviews in Consumer Reports magazine, and talked with folks who owned both brands. I honestly think some of the reviews here are from people whose expectations were a bit over the top. Perhaps a Kitchen Aid mixer would do a better job with bread? In the end I selected this model based on reviews and the included extras (citrus press, bowls, blades). The blades are *very* sharp, and the machine is amazingly quiet. The main bowl holds a good amount, and the extra mini and chef bowls are well worth the extra cost of this model. The touchpad makes clean-up a breeze, and yes indeed, the bowls, blades and disks do just fine in my dishwasher. It does take a little forethought to most efficiently use the processor for a complex recipe without stopping to wash the bowl, but I'm sure that will become routine in no time. My only complaint is with the storage box for the blades and disks. Its ungainly shape and design make storage a challenge. Given the otherwise impressive engineering and thought that went into this delightful machine, Kitchen Aid should have created a much better storage unit. To sum it up, this marvel is a kitchen workhorse which does many many things very well. Yes, a professional citrus press will squeeze more juice from the orange, but it sure won't slice carrots, let alone the thousand-and-one other tasks this machine will do superbly well.
Description of KitchenAid KFP670 Professional Food Processor, Onyx BlackKitchenAid KFP670OB Powerful, durable, and easy to clean. KitchenAid's Ultra Power 11-cup food processor has a 670W motor that has the muscle to handle tough jobs. It features multipurpose stainless steel blades and a pulse control to deliver precise processing while helping to prevent over processing. Includes . Dishwasher safe accessories. This sleek appliance demonstrates why KitchenAid food processors enjoy an unsurpassed reputation. It's big: the main bowl holds 11 cups. It's powerful: a 670-watt motor guided by an electronic sensor provides smooth, consistent speed. It's remarkably easy to use: precisely fitted parts assemble and disassemble quickly, the flick of a fingertip controls the on/off and pulse switches, and a two-piece food pusher makes it easy to process herbs and other small items. It's flexible: a 9-cup chef's bowl nearly doubles the processor's capacity while permitting a second ingredient to be processed without cleaning the main bowl, and a 3-cup minibowl with its own blade fits inside the big bowl for smaller jobs. Operating the processor is a thrill--like driving a luxury car. It weighs 10-1/2 pounds and measures 14-1/2 inches high, 8-3/4 inches wide, and 10-1/2 inches deep. There are no seams to trap food, making cleanup a simple matter of wiping the base and placing all the parts in the dishwasher. Included with this model is a citrus press for quickly extracting juice; a whip for egg whites and cream; a dough blade; a thin (2 millimeters), reversible disc for slicing and shredding; and medium (4 millimeters) shredding and slicing discs. All store in a transparent plastic case (10-1/2 by 7-1/2 by 7 inches). The instruction booklet is exceptionally easy to follow and includes dozens of recipes. Should the processor fail during its first year, KitchenAid's total replacement warranty guarantees delivery of another machine. Other than that unlikely eventuality, no cook would part with this processor. --Fred Brack
