We used our department-store wedding gift cards to purchase the $100 KitchenAid coffee maker two years ago. It made great coffee. Then one morning, about seven months after we'd brought it home, it came up with an "Err2" message. I called the KitchenAid company, and they said that this error message could not be remedied. We returned it to the company (they paid the postage, etc.), and they sent us a free replacement. Now, a little more than 13 months later (now past the one-year warranty), the replacement has come up with the same error message. I do not recommend this coffee maker. With the Err2 problem, the heating element won't even come on, so it can't even be used to keep a pot of coffee warm. It's completely useless.Customer Review: poor design, poor flavor...don't bother

There is one good thing about the Kitchen Aid Coffeemaker; it uses far less coffee than most other machines, perhaps due to the spray head, or temperature of the water. Otherwise, the machine makes poor tasting coffee, and the warming plate bakes the coffee due to its high temperature(s). In addition, there is no water gauge outside of the unit, and the one inside is useless. Moreover, one can hardly pour water in the machine due to its confined and narrow entry point. Furthermore, the cover on the pot, besides being non-removable for cleanup purposes, is shaped so that it is difficult to pour all of the coffee out. Finally, this machine is overly large, and clumsy. Overall, a very poor design, and lousy tasting coffee.Customer Review: Excellent Coffeemaker for exactly ONE YEAR then...

Just to add my 2 cents (or 99$) worth, I agree with most everyone else here about this product! Very good coffeemaker for exactly one year to the day to be exact, then the Err2 message appeared and that was that! Contacted customer service for a replacement, they were just as others have said kind pleasant and courteous. Replacement is coming and fingers are crossed. Likely will be updating this review in the coming months I'm sure with something negative ..but let's hope not!
