Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of KitchenAid KCG200WH Model A-9 Coffee Mill, WhiteCustomer Review: Terribly expensive ...and worth it! Summary: 5 Stars
This is my third burr grinder, and by far the best!First, let me say, a few people have had problems with this grinder, and it is partly the fault of KitchenAid for not having a better instruction booklet. Obviously, from the reviews, one should not grind flavored coffees (I like coffee flavor myself). And, that little flap over the outlet is functional. One does NOT lift it when operating the machine! The people who said it made a mess did not realize this. Now, on to accentuate the positive... This is the cleanest, quietest and coolest burr grinder I have ever owned. It creates no more mess than if one were to scoop coffee grounds from a can. It has a smooth gentle sound that is even quieter than some "propeller" grinders I've heard. And it is the coolest looking appliance on my countertop. (even though I bought the ordinary white color, due to a nice discount from the Amazon Gold Box). And, you can fit a full pound of beans in the top container with room to spare. Want to know why it isn't messy? It's got glass. I have tried plastic grinders and I can say without any reseveration: never buy a plastic burr grinder. They give burr grinders a bad name. Plastic equals mess. It is all due to static electricity. I live in a humid area and still I have gotten major mess with plastic grinders. They must be a sheer horror for people in dry climes. I will admit the grind adjustment does take a bit of muscle to rotate, but hopefully you will find a setting you like and not have to worry about this. Otherwise, just turn it wth strength and confidence and you will do fine, and maybe build up your wrist muscles. One more thing I love about this grinder. I make my coffee one cup at a time and with this grinder, I can hold my single cup filter cone right under the output and grind it by counting the seconds. No measuring cup to clean. Ok, I'm lazy. So, if you are lazy, love good fresh ground coffee, want to enhance your countertop decor, and can afford it, ...buy this grinder now.
