Customer Review: soft bristles don't fall out, wash easily

I once had a basting brush that was great the first two uses, but after that the bristles started pulling out and those that were left became terribly stiff. After weekly use, this one is still in perfect condition. The bristles are soft enough that they don't deflate the bread when I paint on an egg wash, and it washest out easily. Also the handle has a nice heavy feel to it so it is comfortable to hold. I also think the variety of colors that KitchenAid offers for its utensils is a big plus.

The sturdy, ergonomically designed handle makes basting a pleasure. As for all that melted butter, or egg wash? A trip through the dishwasher takes care of all that.The nylon bristles on this heavy, sturdy European-style tool baste meats, poultry, and seafood and apply marinades. The brush has a stylish yellow, enamel-like handle, with accent bands of 18/8 stainless steel polished to a mirror finish, and is dishwasher-safe. The brush handle is shaped for a firm grip, is weighty enough to provide control, and has a hole to facilitate hanging on a hook or peg. The bristles are 2-1/4 inches long and 1-1/2 inches wide. Overall, the brush measures 9-3/4 inches long. KitchenAid says the first year of the lifetime warranty against defects is hassle-free; the company will ship a replacement at no cost and without question if a defect is detected. --Fred Brack
