Kitchen and Housewares Reviews of KitchenAid 9704230 Blender Coupling (Note that this will fit your blender if it begins with either "Customer Review: Easier than I thought to install. Summary: 5 StarsI figured out how to take the old Coupler off before the new replacement arrived by mail. It required me to take the blender apart to lock up the motor to remove the old one. When I got the replacement, it showed simple instructions on how to remove the old one very quickly and easily. Follow their instructions and you will love this product!
Customer Review: The "trick" to getting this installed right Summary: 5 StarsFactory original replacement, with instructions, from buy-it-now-store (can highly recommend them). The trick to installation was not to attempt to unscrew the original coupling, but to instead pry the old one up and off. This obliterates the threads on the original coupling but the threading on the motor shaft is undamaged. Then, wipe away the metal shavings, set the replacement coupling on the motor shaft, give it a counter-clockwise turn, and you're set.
Customer Review: KitchenAid Coupler Summary: 5 StarsProduct arrived after the holidays as expected. Correct part to replace on my blender and half the price of what KitchenAid repair center are selling the parts. Since this is a part that wears out regularly, I will be stocking up on them from this seller.
Customer Review: Good replacement piece to save money Summary: 4 StarsSave big bucks by replacing the piece and not the whole unit. Of all the procedures to change the piece, stopping the motor from turning from the bottom seems to work best. The instructions that come with the piece, I think, are worthless. I stuck a screwdriver into the bottom of the unit(unit unplugged of course) and found a spot where the armature did not turn and used channel lock pliers to take the defective piece off turning clockwise. I do wish the replacement piece would have been made of metal for longer shelf life.
Customer Review: What Service! Summary: 5 StarsWhat sevice. My blender broke, after several years of use, because, I was in a hurry, and didn't put the blender on the base evenly. Thinking it would be more trouble to repair it, than buy a new one, I went on Amazon, to find a replacement. To my delight, there was the broken part, offered for less than $10.00. I ordered the part, learned how to install it, from other reviews on Amazon, received it, in less than a week, and repaired my blender. I use this every day for fruit smoothies, and have never had any problems, when I put the blender on the base correctly, and start from slow, then move to faster speeds. Thank you Amazon for offering an easy fix, rather than going for the larger sale of a new blender. KK
